Description:
The new building for the storage and maintenance of historical trains has been resized to accommodate two rail tracks and two electric trains.
The double structural spacing of the new building (with one pillar every 6 metres) mirrors the 12-metre structural span of the Squadra Rialzo historic Building. The new structure is longitudinally calibrated according to the dimensions (‘lengths’) and the number of cars that electric trains are generally composed of. Consequently, the resulting architectural image is a stick-style structure extended longitudinally for about 220 m. Its defining stylistic traits align with those of a serial industrial building. However, the design intent is to build a ‘workshop’ that can also function as an exhibit space.
